Obama Way Ahead in the MySpace Campaign– So What?

March 26, 2007 on 3:58 am | In obama, MySpace, Internet | No Comments

Via Ben, Numeric is tracking the popularity of the presidential candidates on MySpace. Obama appears to have three times as many friends as the rest of the field combined. Ben:

I visit Barack’s MySpace page I’m greeted with the message Barack Obama is in your extended network. And I currently have two friends, so that’s saying something. I really do hope these numbers translate to support and votes.

I imagine that there is not a tight correlation between MySpace contacts and votes in an election 11 or so months away. Jarvis  made a point on new numerics last week in discussing Phil de Vellis’ Vote Different video:

even a million and a half views is still small…. Watching it doesn’t mean we agree with it. So be careful with measurement in this new arena.
